How It Works
Our autograph authentication process involves a thorough examination and assessment of every item by our team of experts. Each piece undergoes meticulous scrutiny to ensure consistency among our authenticators' impressions. Signatures are meticulously compared to our extensive autograph exemplar library, providing a robust basis for confirming or refuting their authenticity.
Our authenticators work collaboratively, utilizing a sophisticated scoring system to reach a conclusive determination regarding the legitimacy of each item. Upon certification, authenticated items are assigned a unique registration number and adorned with a tamper-evident label, providing assurance of their authenticity and integrity.
Items that do not meet our stringent certification standards are subjected to a detailed failure analysis. In these cases, a comprehensive failure letter is provided to the owner, outlining the specific inconsistencies observed during the examination process. This transparent approach ensures the integrity of our certification process and maintains the trust of our clientele.
Our Equipment
When a more thorough examination is deemed necessary, Buona Fede utilizes the Video Spectral Comparator (VSC), an advanced authentication tool that enhances the expert's evaluations. This cutting-edge workstation incorporates sophisticated color and infrared imaging, along with magnification capabilities, coaxial and side lighting, and the ability to conduct on-screen autograph comparisons either side-by-side or overlaid.
The VSC's capabilities extend beyond what the human eye can perceive, enabling it to identify subtle details that may indicate forgery. It can uncover erasures, unveil masked or obliterated signatures, differentiate between ink types, and detect various other indicators commonly found in forged autographs.
By harnessing the power of the VSC, Buona Fede ensures a rigorous authentication process that goes beyond traditional methods, providing clients with heightened confidence in the legitimacy of their items.

Request a Consultation
To get an appraisal on an item or to get an item certified as authentic, a consultation with our staff is required. We except virtual or in-person appointments. This is a crucial part of our process because there are certain items that we cannot accept, and certain items are discernable pre-inspection.
